Yarn Crimp Tester for Fabric Analysis
DESCRIPTION / TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
This is a Yarn Crimp Tester, a precision mechanical instrument designed to measure the degree of yarn crimp or take-up in woven and knitted fabrics. This tool fully complies with the testing methods of international standards such as ISO 7211 and ASTM D3883, making it an essential device for fabric analysis. The following are its detailed technical specifications.
The instrument works on a simple yet accurate principle: measuring the difference in length between the yarn as it exists crimped within the fabric and its length once straightened under a controlled tension. Equipped with a long scale length of up to 900mm with an accuracy of 1mm, it allows for precise measurement of the extension. A 150mm calibration scale is also included to ensure the measurement accuracy is maintained over time.
A key feature of this tester is its adjustable pre-tension unit, which applies the correct amount of load when straightening the yarn. The ability to apply a correct and consistent tension is crucial for obtaining accurate results. This instrument offers flexibility with two selectable pre-tension ranges, 0~35cN for finer yarns and 0~175cN for stronger yarns, making it versatile for a wide variety of fabrics and yarn types.
The application of this tool is vital in the textile industry. By measuring the crimp percentage, manufacturers can accurately calculate the actual yarn consumption in the weaving or knitting process, which is essential for production costing and inventory management. Furthermore, yarn crimp data is also an important quality parameter as it affects fabric properties such as dimensional stability, elasticity, and final appearance, making it an invaluable tool for textile mills and fabric QC laboratories.
